Flute and Harp Duo

About Us

Based in London, Valeria Kurbatova (harp) and Daniel Ephgrave (flute) are one of the UK’s foremost Flute and Harp Duos, with a highly varied and ambitious repertoire including arrangements of works for full orchestra such as Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l'après-midi d'un Faune. As well as both having busy independent freelance careers, they regularly travel across the UK together and abroad showcasing music that spans the world of Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Folk, World and Contemporary styles  in some of the country’s finest venues and concert clubs.

Valeria and Daniel’s charismatic stage presence and friendly approach make their recitals welcoming whether you are an avid classical music fan or just somebody who enjoys listening occasionally. Their excellent individual musicianship is enriched by a great chemistry and rapport between each other.

As well as performing as a flute and harp duo, they can also perform as a trio (flute, harp, viola) which allows them to expand their repertoire even further and add yet another dimension to their recital programmes.  The broad range of sounds and tone colours that can be created from this combination of instruments has enabled some of the most charming chamber repertoire from the early twentieth century to been written for it. The trio also lends itself beautifully to arrangements of baroque works and even new commissions from upcoming composers.

Who we are

Daniel and Valeria are both highly experienced and busy professional musicians, both as soloists and as chamber musicians. They regularly perform together across the UK for classical recitals and for events.
